Oasis' new album scores big on US chart

Post by Baz on Thu Oct 16, 2008 3:02 am

Oasis scored their best US chart position in more than a decade with their new album 'Dig Out Your Soul'.

The band's latest effort debuted at Number Five on the US Billboard chart, selling 53,000 copies. It is the first time Oasis has cracked the top five since 1997's 'Be Here Now'.

'Dig Out Your Soul' faired even better on the Billboard Digital Sales chart, debuting at Number Two with 20,000 downloads sold.

Elsewhere on the chart, T.I. held steady at Number One, while Metallica's 'Death Magnetic' came in at Number Two. Rise Against took the Number Three spot with 'Appeal To Reason' and Jennifer Hudson hit Number Four with her new self-titled album.

I think getting pushed off stage in Canada might just have given Oasis some decent free advertising.
