Is Avril Lavigne 'too sexy' for Malaysia?
Islamists in Malaysia are urging their government to cancel an upcoming Avril Lavigne concert because they believe the singer's moves are "too sexy".
The youth wing of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party said that they don't want their teenagers influenced by her performance.
"It is considered too sexy for us. ... It's not good for viewers in Malaysia," party official Kamarulzaman Mohamed told the Associated Press. "We don't want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models."
Lavigne is scheduled to begin her tour of Asia in Kuala Lumpur on August 29. The Malaysian government has not yet determined whether her gig will be allowed to go ahead as planned.
Several female artists including Gwen Stefani and the Pussycat Dolls have run into trouble in Malaysia, which requires all performers to be covered from knees to chest and refrain from jumping, shouting, hugging and kissing on stage.

Re: Is Avril Lavigne 'too sexy' for Malaysia?
Muslim youths in Malaysia will be ordered by the conservative Islamic party to protest outside an Avril Lavigne concert scheduled for this Friday (August 29).
Lavigne was recently given the go-ahead to perform in Kuala Lumpur, despite protests that her performance might be too racy for Malaysian youths.
Even with permission from the government to stage the concert, conservative Muslims in the country are planning to protest outside the gig. They feel the performance will be an insult to their religion, as Ramadan starts just days later.
Nasrudin Hassan of the Pan Malaysian Islamic Party PAS announced the planned protest today saying:
"A concert of this nature is not conducive to teach the younger generation to become good citizens, upright and competitive, but instead would weaken them morally and mentally. If the concert organisers do not heed this warning to cancel the concert, PAS youth will order all Muslim youth to turn up and protest the concert in order to prevent it from taking place,"
The application to play Malaysia was rejected in the first place, simply because it was submitted too late, reports Bernama.
