James Morrison Feat. Nelly Furtado - Broken Strings
Like his contemporaries Blunt and Nutini, James Morrison has charmed his way into the hearts of the nation's housewives with his curly locks and inoffensive soft rock. Morrison's unique voice is apparently the result of a near-fatal bout of whooping cough as a baby - but, having sold more than two million copies of his debut album, there's no doubt that his dark cloud had an especially silver lining.
Now, for the second single from his Songs For You, Truths For Me album, he's teamed up with Nelly Furtado on 'Broken Strings'. Morrison's safely in his comfort zone here, but the added Furtado factor does raise this above some of his earlier offerings. Together their rasp-like vocals build towards a surprisingly gripping and emotional climax, making 'Broken Strings' a perfectly fine offering at this time of year.
